Hello. My name is Monica Maggio and I am a professional fruit-growing expert here in beautiful Portland, Oregon. My mission is to continually harness and cultivate my inner plant nerd in ways that benefit the greater community here in the Pacific Northwest.
In all of my services, I combine Permaculture principles, up-to-date university research, and 10+ years of on-the-job gardening experience to help you successfully grow your own fruit at home!
I specialize in pruning fruit trees of all kinds, along with any other fruiting plants you may be growing at your home. My goal is to help your plants be as beautiful and fruitful as possible!
I also prune all ornamental shrubs and trees under 15’. I am particularly skilled at working with Japanese and vine maples, wisteria, and in transitioning green lollipop-shaped shrubs into more graceful, organic shapes.
Email me pictures of any plants you want pruned (with something in the picture for scale – like a fence or a human), and I can give you a flat rate bid for getting the job done!
I work with clients side-by-side and teach them how to prune and care for their plants themselves. This hands-on instruction enables clients to build skills and knowledge to better take care of their fruiting and ornamental plants themselves in the future.
I have a two-hour minimum per coaching session – we can certainly meet for longer, depending on how much you'd like for us to do together! Get in touch for rates and scheduling.
Consulting & Design
My approach for this service is to assess your site, listen best I can to your wants and vision, layer on what the plants need, and from there create a doable action plan that best fits your time frame and budget.
We can explore various options for bringing in new plants, and for improving what you may already have growing in your yard.
